TMS Now Offering Cyber Security Assessments for K-12 school systems
In recent months, hundreds of school systems across the country have been hit with cyber attacks, including the stealing of personal data, access to employee records, and even student grades.
In Massachusetts alone, Springfield, Tyngsborough, and Sandwich are some of the school districts that suffered cyber attacks. School officials across New England are continuing to struggle with the complications from these incidents, which are causing headaches for parents quick to blame the school’s technology department or leadership team because they do not realize the problems are not internal issues but external attacks on the school’s information technology system.
To assist school systems, TMS’s team of in-house cybersecurity professionals is now offering cybersecurity assessments to school districts. Working closely with the school district’s leadership team and IT department, the TMS cybersecurity experts will assess the school district’s cybersecurity preparedness, protections, and ability to recover from attacks. The cybersecurity assessment includes but is not limited to the following areas:
-
denial of service (DoS) and distributed denial of service (DDoS)
-
email spoofing prevention
-
phishing / spear phishing
-
malware / scareware
-
ransomware
-
identity and access management
-
IT asset management
-
unpatched software vulnerabilities
-
removable media
-
cloud security
-
unsecured personal devices
-
physical security for IT assets
-
identity management
