TMS is excited to share that we have started the TMS Remote Learning Collaboration Group! This is a Google Group designed to gather educators interested in sharing ideas and resources for effective remote/hybrid learning environments. You can become a part of this community by having a Google account (either a personal account or one from your employer) and clicking here.
Why Join The TMS RLCG?
If you are an educator working to build on your tools for teaching in an online/blended learning environment, we invite you to become a part of the TMS RLCG a number of reasons.
Access Resources Beyond Social Media
The TMS RLCG is a community of educators who choose to become members because you believe in the power of the collective work educators to improve educational outcomes for students. As a member, you’ll be automatically connected to a group of educators with similar interests, attitudes, and goals. Obviously members of this community have a great deal of enthusiasm for all things related to online and blended learning. This group will allow you to engage in deep discussions with colleagues, both virtually and, hopefully, one day, face to face.
When you need advice or are faced with a challenge, fellow community members will be there to offer suggestions and encouragement. If you’ve come across a great resource or strategy that’s been helpful to you, please share it with the group! Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram are all ways to build a Professional Learning Network, but the TMS RLCG will take sharing and connecting to another level.
Connecting with other educators online as well as in person is truly life-changing. However, we’ve discovered the power of connecting with educators with whom we might not otherwise come into contact has added to the process of building a network of colleagues from whom we can learn and be inspired.
Every educator should have the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be connected in real and meaningful ways. It’s truly amazing how many genuine people there are out there who are willing to help their peers become better educators.
Make The TMS RLCG Your “One Stop Shop”
While social media platforms are great places to connect with other educators, having to figure out where to go for resources can be daunting. Keeping track of updates from Twitter, Facebook groups, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. can be overwhelming. Our goal is to bring resources and educators together in one place for sharing our collective wisdom about how to best meet our students’ needs in the “new normal” of teaching and learning.
As a starting point, we have created a Google Sheets workbook with resources for online/blended learning. We encourage you to access it via the link in the group and let us know if there are any additional items you would like us to add. Share and curate resources and get the latest updates about anything and everything related to online and blended learning.
While we know that this group will exist in the virtual space for some time to come, we hope to be able to offer ways to connect face-to-face when the time is right and conditions are safe to do so. In the meantime, we’ll keep you up-to-date on synchronous offerings designed to bring us together to chat online in real time as well as asynchronously. We look forward to working with you!
